Steve & Becky Little grew up in Central New York – Becky in Nanticoke, NY and Steve in Catlin, NY. We became dairy farmers owning a 66 head farm with Becky’s mom and dad in Nanticoke, NY. We started a family in Nanticoke which continued to grow until 1993 when our last child Joshua was born. In 1984 we sensed the call of God on our lives to fulltime ministry. We left the farm that same year and attended Practical Bible Training School to prepare for ministry. After college we served in Brazil four years and started an indigenous church call “Igresa Batista en Setubal”. Upon returning to the States in 1994 we started Servants Baptist Church in Camden, NY. After graduation of Servants Baptist we moved to Canastota, NY and started Heritage Baptist Church which is where we minister to this day. Our expectation is to see Heritage Baptist graduate sometime in 2013 or 2014. Our children are now grown and have blessed us with 3 grandchildren which we adore. Becky and I have now been married 35 years and we can say that it gets sweeter as the years go by
Steve and Becky are serving as church planters with Baptist Church Planters at Heritage Baptist Church in Canastota, NY.
The History of Heritage Baptist Church
Heritage Baptist Church is a church plant of Open Door Baptist Church in New Woodstock, NY.
In January 2005, missionary church planter/pastor Steve Little and his wife, Becky, had an informational meeting at the Days Inn in Canastota, NY. Shortly after, Bible studies were held at the VFW on Canal Street.
As interest continued to grow, Heritage Baptist Church began meeting for church services in a rental property at Sal’s Auto Center. God continued to increase our little church family and by the fall of 2006, we had outgrown this facility.
God had a special plan for Heritage Baptist Church. The former Lighthouse Baptist Church properties were given to us to rebuild as a Baptist Church aligning with the original church covenant (a promise between the former Lighthouse Baptist Church members and God). God continues to supply the finances and the labor as we renovate this property.
Our church family continues to grow in numbers and spiritual maturity. The average Sunday morning attendance is 80-100 people. Visitors are always welcome! God is writing a wonderful story for us here at Heritage Baptist Church!
